Common Types of Wood

Walnut

Walnut is known for its dark color, hardness, denseness, and spectacular grain.  It makes wonderful furniture of all kinds

Maple

Maple is strong, durable, and in my opinion, just brings a lightness to the room.

Elm

Elm isn't nearly as common as walnut and maple, but is beautiful nonetheless.  It's softer than walnut and maple, has a swirly grain pattern, and can range from light to dark color.

All Others

Oak, Cherry, Cedar, Sycamore, Sequoia, Redwood, Hickory, Avocado, wood you didn't even know like Bubinga.  There's just too many to even think about listing them.

My name is Daniel McManus, and this here, to the right, is my awesome little family.
Together, we run BocoWoods.

I currently work at a mental health center in Missoula, MT, and make all things in wood in my free time.
We're proud to say BocoWoods was born out of a love for creation, artistry, and challenging ourselves every day.

There's something empowering about building things, learning, and being able to create something that will bring connection and joy into the homes of others.
